In the textile and apparel production chain, the water consumption of dyeing processes is staggering. Producing one ton of cotton fabric requires approximately 150 tons of water, with dyeing alone accounting for 98 tons.
The intrinsic value of water resources is severely undervalued, leading to frequent rework rates in the textile and apparel industry and further exacerbating water pollution.
Beyond water pollution, the dyeing and printing sector also faces severe challenges in carbon emissions and waste management. As global environmental awareness grows, the industry's green transformation is no longer optional—it is imperative.
In July 2025, the China Printing and Dyeing Industry Association, in collaboration with regional associations and dyeing enterprises, jointly released the “Comprehensive Green and Low-Carbon Development Initiative for the Printing and Dyeing Industry,” calling on all industry stakeholders to collectively shoulder environmental protection responsibilities.
